Kavya Pearlman - Founder & CEO - XRSI (Moderator): Known as the "Cyber Guardian" and founder of XRSafety Initiative (XRSI), Kavya Pearlman is an award-winning cybersecurity professional. She recently launched a novel XRSI Privacy Framework for the XR and Spatial Computing domain. Kavya explores new technologies to solve cybersecurity challenges. Named one of the Top Cybersecurity influencers for two consecutive years and Cybersecurity Professionals & 2020 Thought Leader by IFSEC Global, Kavya advised Facebook on third party security risks during the 2016 US presidential elections and worked as head of security for “Second Life” by Linden Lab. Kavya is one of the Top 50 speakers in the cybersecurity industry and constantly shares knowledge via webinars, conference talks, and blog posts around Application Security, Cloud-native technologies, Machine Learning, and immersive technologies such as XR.
Rachel Michelson - Lead - XRSI Medical XR Advisory Council : Rachel holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from MIT & Master’s degree from National Technological University (currently Walden University) and is an expert in software development for public safety and cybersecurity evaluation of medical and other IoT devices. Rachel spent 20 years at Motorola working on audio, data encryption, and authentication on Motorola’s two-way radio systems for public safety. Rachel joined UL to evaluate other manufacturers’ medical devices against appropriate standards, such as IEC 62304 and UL 2900 for device testing, documentation,, and corporate processes.
Michelle Abersol - Medical XR Advisor - XRSI: Dr. Aebersold’s professional and academic career is focused on advancing the science of learning applied in simulation to align clinician and student practice behaviors with research evidence to improve learner and health outcomes. She focuses her scholarship in both high fidelity and virtual reality simulation and is a national leader and expert in simulation. Her scholarship led to developing the Simulation Model to Improve Learner and Health Outcomes (SMILHO). As XRSI’s Medical XR Adviser, Michelle is a Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information.
Jeremy Nelson - Director - XR Initiative - University of Michigan : Jeremy leads the XR Initiative (XRI) effort to seed new projects and experiments that integrate XR into residential and online curricula, and create innovative XR public/private partnerships. Prior to joining the Center for Academic Innovation, he was co-founder & managing partner for Afia Inc, a healthcare consulting firm working with organizations in selecting and implementing technology solutions to improve processes & patient experiences. He leads the next generation of transformative technologies rooted in solving pain points for different audiences. He has a track record of creating initiatives from the ground up to become successful, impactful, and sustainable organizations that utilize technology to change the world.
Richard Price - Learning Technologies Advisor, Health Education England: Advisor on education technology to the NHS, leading, managing and delivering national and international healthcare educational technology projects, developing new and emerging technologies to support the healthcare worker education, innovating to ensure widespread adoption of TEL and improved educational outcomes. He supporte and developed the NHS Education response to Covid-19 with Immersive technology, E-learning and video simulation, including at the NHS Nightingale hospitals including use of Google Glass and HoloLens with the development of the NHS Learning Hub.
