This week's Health Systems Chat in Social VR is about Smart Cities & Smart Health, and coincides with the COSI Science Festival! Please join us in Smartoon City, floating 500 feet above the Scioto River (via a 360 aerial photo of downtown Columbus Ohio), to discuss technologies making cities smarter and healthier. For inspiration, we'll draw on three sources, two conferences co-occurring this week, plus Columbus being a "smart city" (Smart Columbus), winning a national competition for $50 million of investment. The conferences are Clinical Informatics in Atlanta and The Smart Conference in Florida. We'll tour posters in shared virtual reality while chatting about (draw breath), Social-Determinants-of-Health (SDoH), public health informatics, population management, Internet-of-Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, 5G cellular communication, virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, and participatory citizen design.
Do you live in a smart city? Implications for citizen health? Come & share!

Tour the Smartoon City venue!
A smart city efficiently uses physical infrastructure thru AI & data analytics to support economic, social, cultural development. Involves citizens in governance & decisions thru open innovation processes, participation & co-design. Learns, adapts, innovates & responds effectively & promptly to changing circumstances thru improved city intelligence.
Clinical informatics is the study of information technology and how it can be applied to healthcare, implementing team-based, integrated healthcare driven by data, evidence, and best practice.
